The UN announced 127 reports of civilian casualties in Ukraine

UN received 127 reports of civilian casualties from air strikes in Ukraine

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has named the number of people killed and injured as a result of shelling and air strikes in Ukraine. It is reported by TASS.

OHCHR staff received reports of at least 127 civilian casualties. According to Raveena Shamdasani, spokesman for the department, 25 people were killed and 102 civilians were injured. Shamdasani noted that information about the victims is difficult to verify. She suggested that the true number “might be much higher.”

Earlier, Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko named the number of deaths as a result of hostilities in the country. He said that 57 people were killed and another 169 were injured. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in a video message to citizens, said that 137 Ukrainians were killed and 316 more were injured in a day.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. He announced this during an address to fellow citizens. Putin has also turned to outside forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia. According to him, Russia's response will be immediate.
