Media reported that the Ukrainian main battle tank T-84 “Oplot-M” was finally delivered to the United States. The fact is that this combat vehicle should have been delivered eight years ago.
It is noted that the modernized Ukrainian tank is a high-tech version of the Soviet T-80U, which was created at the Kharkov Design Bureau. It can fight ground, low-flying and low-speed air targets. The upgraded tank is equipped with a 125mm fully stabilized smoothbore cannon and an automatic loader. There is also dynamic protection “Duplet” and a complex of electro-optical countermeasures, which reduces the likelihood of being hit by anti-tank missiles.
The USA signed a contract for the supply of “Oplot-M” in 2012. The country was supposed to receive these tanks in 2013, but the dates were postponed. The price of the car also grew. As a result, the United States paid $ 7 million for it.
