The Ukrainian Embassy in the UK outraged the BBC's material about the An-26 crash near Kharkov. The message was posted on the diplomatic mission's Twitter account.
“We can't believe our eyes. I would like to think that this is just a mistake, which will soon be corrected, “- said in the comment of the publication. The reason for the indignation of the diplomats was the map with which the journalists illustrated the material. Crimea was not designated as Ukrainian territory on it.
The BBC, in turn, published an updated article on the website apologizing for the “incorrect” map in the previous version.
An-26 plane crashed in the Kharkov region on September 25. The crash occurred during a training flight at a distance of two kilometers from the military airport, after which the board caught fire. The possible cause of the disaster is called engine failure. Law enforcement officers are checking three more versions of the reasons for the aircraft crash. These include inappropriate performance of duties by the crew or those responsible for flight control, as well as inappropriate maintenance.
The plane was carrying military pilots and cadets of the Kharkiv National University of the Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub. In total there were 27 people on board, the death of 26 of them was confirmed.
Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014 after a referendum on the peninsula. Ukraine considers it an occupation.
