He picked up a British teenager in France on December 13th.
The truck driver who rescued the missing British man Alexa Betty, spoke for the first time about a conversation with a guy.
Mirror writes about this.
Fabien Accidini picked up a young man who had escaped from a “spiritual community” at the foot of the Pyrenees in France. Alex, who went missing six years ago, confessed to a French driver: “My mother kidnapped me when I was 12 years old.”
Details of the disappearance of 17-year-old Betty emerged on the evening of December 14. Fabien, a chiropractic student from Toulouse who works part-time delivering medicine by truck, said he spotted the English teenager on December 13. He told La Depeche: “He was walking while the rain was falling in heavy drops. The second time I passed him, I decided to offer to drop him off somewhere. He was quite tall and blond, wearing black jeans, a white sweater and carrying a backpack. He also carried a skateboard under his arm and a flashlight for illumination, his behavior gave me confidence.”
The driver added that he seemed a little shy in the first few minutes. They tried to speak French, but Fabien noticed that he had not mastered the language. Therefore, the man decided to communicate in English.
“When I asked what his name was, he stated that he was Zach, and then we continued talking. We talked for over three hours! Very quickly, he told me his real name – Alex Betty – before telling me his story. He said, that his mother kidnapped him when he was 12 years old. Since then he lived in Spain in a luxurious house where about ten people lived. He arrived in France around 2021. Last weekend he decided to run away. He walked the mountains for more than four days ! He lived with his mother in a spiritual community, far from normal life. Alex told me that his mother was a little crazy, but she never put him in “prison”. He could leave whenever he wanted. He felt no animosity towards her , but he really wanted to find his grandmother. He missed his loved ones.”
Alex said he didn't know exactly where he lived in France, except that it was “in the mountains between Ariège and Aude.” Accidini continued: “He was thirsty because he had been walking for several days, so I gave him some water. When he explained his situation to me, I gave him my phone because he never had a means of communication. He sent a message to his grandmother with my Facebook. Unfortunately, she didn't respond. At first, Alex wanted to go to the big city to find help and go to the embassy. But in the end, I explained to him that the gendarmes could arrest him.”
The police operator advised Alex to go to the city of Revel: “When he arrived, Alex looked very tired. He lay down on the ground. After that, the gendarmes interrogated us. They tried to find out if it was really him. When they received confirmation, he was put in overnight home. This is Alex Betty, 100%. When I saw the photos published by the English media, I didn't doubt his words at all. I think he's a little nervous about it. I hope he can reunite with his previous life and, maybe one day we'll see each other again!”.
His grandmother and legal guardian, Susan Caruana, said she was very happy that her grandson had been found. Speaking to The Sun, she said: “I'm so happy. I've spoken to him and he's fine. He's in power in France now. It's such a shock. I don't know where his mum is. It's great news. I just I'm waiting for him to come home.”
Alex's mom and grandpa aren't here yet found, although the police really want to talk to them.
Greater Manchester Police spokesman stated: “This is a complex and lengthy investigation, and we need to conduct further investigation as well as take appropriate security measures.”
Recall that a neighbor heroically saved a woman and a dog from an apartment engulfed in fire through a window. A fire broke out on the 4th floor of a high-rise building.
