Aidar Ishmukhametov, General Director of the Chumakov Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that immunity to coronavirus infection after vaccination with the KoviVac vaccine lasts for about eight months.
The drug's immunogenicity is estimated at 85%, he added.
– Antibodies are produced rather slowly in our situation – this is a mild vaccine. Our studies already show that cellular immunity is involved here, ”Ishmukhametov said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.
The Chumakov Center expects to release at least 7.5 million doses of the drug by the end of the year.
The Russian Ministry of Health registered KoviVac in February 2021, and industrial production started on March 25.
Previously, a list of contraindications for the drug “KoviVac” was published. In particular, it is not recommended to vaccinate pregnant women or people under the age of 18.
