The son of the tiger Amur flew off on a honeymoon trip to the UAE Sher Khan's enclosure was freed for the future offspring of Amur and his tigress Ussuri.
The son of the famous tiger Amur Sherkhan went to the UAE on a program to increase the population of these rare predators, the press service of the Primorsky Safari Park reported on its YouTube channel.
“Program” tigers are purebred Amur tigers participating in the Euro-Asian Association of Zoos' program for the conservation and reproduction of the Amur tiger.
Their offspring, if necessary, can be returned to nature to increase the natural population. Zoos and safari parks have no right to breed them at their own discretion, let alone sell tiger cubs.
And the program itself coordinates the distribution of predators among the zoos and safari parks of the world, so that each of them has comfortable conditions for life and reproduction, and the cubs grow up in comfortable conditions. By the way, in the Primorsky safari park all the Amur tigers are programmed.
The recommendation to send Sher Khan to the UAE from the program came back in 2019, but due to financial difficulties and the pandemic, the tiger was only able to fly out now. His bride is already waiting in the UAE – she arrived there from the Novosibirsk Zoo.
Sher Khan has been accustomed to the transport cage since autumn. Raised by people, he calmly reacted to the changes, and did not have to immobilize him.
As noted in the Primorsky safari park, Sherkhan's move opened up new opportunities for Amur and his tigress Ussuri – after all, an open-air cage has now become free, where their future new cubs can settle.

Sherkhan was born in 2016. Tigress Ussuri hails from the Moscow Zoo. After the birth of two kittens, she refused to accept them and feed them. As a result, one of them died. The second – Sherkhan – was saved, now he is a magnificent adult tiger.
The tiger Cupid became a celebrity thanks to his friendship with the proud mountain goat Timur. Amur and Timur were loved by people all over the world. Alas, in 2019 Timur died.
