The radical Taliban movement (banned in Russia) will not allow the use of the territory of Afghanistan for actions directed against the Russian Federation and neighboring states, said the official representative of the Qatari political office, Mohammad Sohail Shahin.

“We will not attack the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. We assure the Russian side that our policy is not to attack. We do not consider our goal to be embassies and consulates on the territory of Afghanistan, in particular Russian or any other countries, ”TASS quoted him as saying.

He also stated that the movement has “good relations” with Russia. It is noted that the statement was made in response to a question about the safety of employees of the Russian Consulate General in Mazar-i-Sharif. Mohammad Sohail Shahin noted that the movement confirms the safety of the staff of the Russian Consulate General.

In addition, he told the agency that the Taliban are not seeking a military takeover of Afghanistan. According to him, the position of the movement is “in the search for a political solution to the Afghan issues that are being discussed in Doha.”

Shahin added that the Taliban do not intend to attack the Afghan-Tajik border. According to him, the main purpose of the visit of the delegation of the Qatari political office of the movement to the Russian capital is to discuss the situation in the north of Afghanistan. Let us remind you that a delegation from the Qatari political office of the Taliban movement has arrived in Moscow (banned in the Russian Federation).

Earlier, Mohammad Sohail Shahin said that 162 out of 398 regions of Afghanistan are under the control of militants. As a result of clashes with the Taliban, more than a thousand Afghan soldiers retreated to the territory of Tajikistan.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the rapid deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan. He promised that the Russian side will do everything to stop any aggression against the allies, including using its military base on the Tajik-Afghan border.
