The relationship of Taliban with Russia, and their relations with other countries, are political in nature. Military ties, said the official representative of movement “the Taliban” (banned in Russia) Suhail Shaheen, RIA Novosti reported.

“We are not talking about military relations, and we categorically reject such considerations. They [relationships] can also be part of a campaign to disrupt the peace agreement,” said Shaheen.

He also said that all the weapons the organization receives from the administration in Kabul. And some weapons were bought, some received during the fighting. “So we have a lot of ammunition,” — said Sahin.

The New York Times on 26 June, citing intelligence reported that the Russian military intelligence secretly offered to pay for the killing of American soldiers in Afghanistan. Thus, Moscow allegedly wanted to disrupt the peace negotiations, the U.S. and the Taliban, said the publication.

In Russia, accusations are called unfounded. The accuracy of the information was difficult to confirm and various American agencies: not all of the U.S. intelligence community believes the evidence is sufficiently convincing.
