The radical Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) that seized power in Afghanistan asked China to promote the recognition of their government by the international community, RIA Novosti writes.

Acting Afghan Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani made this request to Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu during their meeting in Kabul, the agency said.

Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, speaking at the 76th session of the General Assembly, called on the world community to support the new government of Afghanistan represented by the Taliban. According to Khan, this will prevent the emergence of a humanitarian crisis in the country.

The Taliban came to power in Kabul on August 15 after the withdrawal of the bulk of US troops from Afghanistan. The US Army completely left the state by August 31.
