The survey revealed the ignorance of Russians about the purposes of using personal data
More than a third of Russians (37%) do not know why and how their personal data can be used, which they leave when registering on websites, ordering home deliveries and in social networks. This is evidenced by the data of the VTsIOM poll.
According to the results of the study, 62% of Russian citizens are somehow aware of the purposes of using personal data, of which 72-76% are young people, 46-62% are representatives of the older generation.
Over the past year, most often respondents indicated their data for obtaining banking services (49%), gave permission to determine their geolocation (46%), and registered on the websites of state institutions (45%). The rest arranged home delivery and shared information on social networks.
Representatives of the young audience indicated personal negligence in transferring their data (24% versus 15% among all survey participants) and insufficiently high level of technology (23% versus 13% on average for the sample) as the main reasons for leaks.
Earlier, more than half of Russians opposed the technology of editing the human genome.
