The bullet tore off the top of Trump's ear, but the politician might not have felt the pain.

German plastic surgeon, MD Jens Altmann explained the nature of the ear injury of US presidential candidate Donald Trump, as well as its consequences.

BILD reports this.

The publication's journalists studied in detail how Trump managed to survive the assassination attempt. The infographic (at the bottom of the text) shows that the shooter could have aimed at the right temple of the politician, when he was facing the public. However, along this trajectory, the bullet only grazed his ear as Trump turned to the right, facing the attacker. As the presidential candidate himself said, he turned his head to read the data from the table on the topic of illegal migration.

The video of the attack also shows that at first Trump does not understand what happened. He presses his hand to his ear, as if checking to see what's there.

As Dr. Altmann explained, the bullet tore off the top of Trump's ear, or helix. It is cartilage covered with skin. Blood sprayed out from there, but the politician did not feel pain. According to the surgeon, the eardrum could have been damaged.

“Donald Trump probably did not experience the slightest pain at the moment of impact. When something like this happens, adrenaline and cortisol are released, the body reacts with symptoms of shock – no one notices anything,” the doctor explained.

“The fact that Trump did not have to undergo surgery suggests that the soft tissue injury was not significant. It is important to see now whether there will be further surgery to restoring the original shape of the ear. It is also important to prevent infection. Specialists will also check whether the eardrum is damaged,” added Altmann.
