Protesters burst into the building of the mayor's office of Kazakhstan's Alma-Ata
The assault on the building of the akimat (local administration) in Kazakhstan's Alma-Ata was caught on video. The entry was published on the RIA Novosti Telegram channel.
The video shows how a crowd of protesters gathered at the entrance to the city hall, and shots are heard.
It was reported that there are police officers in the akimat. The security forces used flash bangs against the protesters.
Earlier it became known about the attempts of the protesters to seize the buildings of local administrations in three cities of Kazakhstan – in Alma-Ata, Shymkent and Taraz. Protesters later seized the Akimat in Aktobe.
On January 2, protests against the rise in fuel prices began in Kazakhstan, and on January 4, protesters clashed with security forces on Republic Square in Alma-Ata. A state of emergency and a curfew were introduced in the capital and Mangistau region.
