CDB MT “Rubin”: submarine TK-208 “Dmitry Donskoy” is in good condition
Director General of the Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering (CDB MT) “Rubin” Igor Vilnit in an interview with “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” revealed the state of the heavy nuclear missile submarine strategic cruiser TK-208 “Dmitry Donskoy” project 941 “Akula”.
The head recalled that at present TK-208 “Dmitry Donskoy” “provides testing of its more modern counterparts.” “Now it is in good technical condition, but the service life of any ship, although long, is, unfortunately, limited,” said the head.
According to him, the future of the submarine will be determined by the fleet. “This is a unique submarine, which our General Designer Sergei Nikitich Kovalev, due to the peculiarities of its design, rightly called the most reliable in the world,” Vilnit said.
In September, Andrei Baranov, deputy general director of the Rubin Central Design Bureau, spoke about the advantages of submarines of projects 636 and 877. According to him, these submarines are called black holes because of their acoustic low noise. The Varshavyanka-class boats received low-speed rowing equipment, which improves the acoustic stealth of the submarine.
