Svetlana Bessarab, member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, supported the creation in Russia of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment in Russia.
The parliamentarian noted that this is a very timely initiative, since with the development of digital technologies, completely new tasks have appeared, namely cybersecurity.
And this is not only about the safety of personal data of children, but also about teaching them the rules of behavior in social networks. Children often do not realize what information is being shared and that it can be used against them.
There is one more acute problem – this is the involvement of children in dangerous and “depressive groups”. Participation in such communities can lead to “the most adverse consequences.”
Law enforcement agencies are fighting the so-called death groups, but it is not always possible to keep track of everything at once. Therefore, children should more realistically assess the situation and understand what can be done in the virtual space and what not.
– Not always the “parental control” button allows you to solve these problems the first time. The development of digital technologies obliges society to monitor children and protect them from various dangers, including from persecutors in the Internet space, Bessarab concluded in an interview with RT.
Earlier it was reported that Russian Internet companies, telecom operators and media holdings signed a charter on the safety of children on the Internet. It implies limiting the access of minors to illegal content, “360” TV channel reports.
