Moscow is afraid of drones.
The Russian authorities admit that they are not able to protect the entire critical infrastructure of the country from “attacks”, and therefore the State Duma recommends that businesses independently purchase air defense systems.
This opinion was expressed by Andrey Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, writes The Moscow Times.
The deputy recalled that the Russian Federation is a large state. Like, that's why “there will always be a gap” through which an attack drone can fly into its territory. That is why he recommends Russian corporations to buy air defense to fight drones. After all, Kartapolov noted, “the means of the Ministry of Defense are focused on covering important state and military facilities.”
Such a contribution of business to security, according to him, will make it possible to protect oil depots, gas distribution stations, power plants, bridges, overpasses and factories. The State Duma expert also says that businessmen should buy air defense systems on an ongoing basis. Karatpolov is motivated by this “countering terrorists.”
“There are fairly inexpensive means of combating unmanned aerial vehicles that every self-respecting corporation can purchase and put on its facilities,” Karatpolov said.
Recall that at the beginning of January 2023, installations of the Pantsir-S1 air defense missile system appeared on the roofs of buildings in the center of Moscow. Three complexes, which were installed on the roofs, enclose the territory in the middle of which the Kremlin is located.
