State Duma Deputy Gadzhimurad Omarov proposed to award the UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov the title of Hero of Russia. This is stated in the letter with which the parliamentarian addressed President Vladimir Putin.
The parliamentarian considered that the athlete inscribed his name in the history of the country, and also showed by his example that any hardworking person can achieve a lot in life. “Guys like Khabib are worthy role models for the younger generation, because each generation should have its own idols!” – said the deputy.
On October 24, Nurmagomedov defeated American Justin Gage at the UFC tournament, holding the promoted lightweight belt. After the fight, he announced his retirement from the sport. The fighter noted that now he will have to look for himself in a new capacity.
