The Ministry of Digital Affairs will check whether Apple complies with the provisions of the law on the pre-installation of Russian software on the iPhone. Anton Gorelkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, turned to the department with a corresponding request.
Gorelkin said that he conducted a survey of consumers on social networks and was not satisfied with the result – many of them talked about the difficulties when using Russian software, which must be preinstalled. Including, according to the parliamentarian, users cannot install Russian search engines, and the selection screen of domestic applications can be skipped, writes TASS.
In this regard, Gorelkin asks the Ministry of Digital Science to check how Apple follows the law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software. It began operating on July 1, 2021 and implies that officials and companies face fines for selling computers and smartphones without Russian software preinstalled on them.
