The US State Department spoke about the “genocide” in the Donbass and did not agree with Russia's assessments. According to the official representative of the department, Ned Price, Washington sees no reason for such statements, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are particularly concerned about statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials about the “genocide” in the Donbass. Statements about this are devoid of any grounds,” the diplomat stressed.

Earlier, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reacted to Russia's statements about the launch of an investigation into the case of mass graves of civilians in the Donbass. She noted that information about burials could be disinformation.

The Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) opened a criminal case on the discovery of mass graves of civilians in the territory of Donbass. According to the TFR, hundreds of facts of the destruction of the inhabitants of Donbass were recorded, which were qualified as the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare.
In total, the remains of almost 300 civilians who died as a result of shelling by Ukrainian armed groups in 2014 were exhumed.
