The US Embassy will return from Lviv to Kiev when it is safe to do so. This condition for the return of the diplomatic mission to the capital of Ukraine was called by the representative of the US State Department, Ned Price, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, the new location for the diplomatic mission was chosen for geographical reasons. “Lviv is more secure than many other cities in Ukraine,” Price explained.
The State Department spokesman also added that the decision to move the embassy from Kiev is not associated with any threats against American diplomats.
Earlier, the US authorities decided to temporarily transfer their embassy in Ukraine from Kiev to Lvov. In addition, the State Department ordered the destruction of all office equipment at the US Embassy in Kiev.
