US State Department spokesman Ned Price called a number of Russian security proposals unacceptable. RIA Novosti reports.
Price noted that Washington and its European partners are ready to discuss Moscow's initiative. According to him, Russia is well aware that some of their proposals will be unacceptable to the United States and its allies in Europe.
Earlier, US Vice President Kamala Harris threatened Russia with new, “strongest” sanctions, which have not yet been, because of the situation in Ukraine. In an interview with CBS television, answering the question of whether there will be a “hot war in Europe” in the next few weeks, Harris said that Washington is informing Russia that it should not encroach on Ukraine's sovereignty.
On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced draft agreements with NATO and the United States on security guarantees. The documents contain calls not to view Moscow as an enemy, not to create a threat of military escalation and to abandon NATO's eastward expansion. Russia also suggested that the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance not include Ukraine in the organization.
