US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. A representative of the American side informed Kuleba about the latest contacts with Russian colleagues, TASS reports with reference to the head of the press service of the State Department, Ned Price.
Price said that Blinken and Kuleba discussed the situation near the borders of Ukraine and the steps that the countries are ready to take to “push Russia to choose diplomatic cooperation, not war, and to ensure security and stability.”
The American Secretary of State also informed Kuleba about his interaction with Russian colleagues. The dialogue with them shows a willingness to solve common security problems, Price stressed.
In addition, Blinken reminded Kuleba that the United States confirmed “unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.” Together with its allies, the United States is ready to impose strict restrictions against Russia if it escalates the conflict.
Earlier it was reported that Blinken and Kuleba agreed on a strategy to “contain” Russia. The Ukrainian minister also thanked the United States for the “unprecedented” assistance.
