Ukraine has not issued any official entry bans for military-age Russian citizens. However, given the war with the Russian Federation, certain categories of foreigners undergo a more thorough check at the border.
Andriy Demchenko, the speaker of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, spoke about this in a comment to ICTV Facts. Thus, he commented on the information circulated on the network that our state allegedly closed entry for Russian men of military age.
As Demchenko noted, Ukrainian border guards are guided by the norms of the legislation regulating the crossing of the state border of Ukraine.
According to the speaker of the State Border Guard Service, dozens of foreign citizens are denied entry every day for one reason or another. Among them there are also citizens of Russia.
– Ukraine is a state of law, and there is Ukrainian legislation regulating the crossing of the state border of Ukraine, including by foreigners to enter our country. Every day, dozens of foreigners are denied entry to our country for a number of reasons: someone has exceeded the period of stay, someone cannot confirm the purpose of the trip, someone has an entry ban due to coronavirus restrictions. Among those not allowed, of course, there are citizens of the Russian Federation and citizens of Belarus, – said Demchenko.
He clarified that foreigners must comply with the conditions of entry into our state. And if someone does not meet these criteria, such persons are denied entry to Ukraine (for example, if they have exceeded the period of stay, they cannot confirm the purpose of their trip if they have insufficient financial support).
Andrey Demchenko also denied the existence of an order to ban entry for male citizens of the Russian Federation of draft age.
– There is a law. If someone else thinks that there are some orders, let them publish them. But there is Russia, an aggressor country in relation to Ukraine. And, of course, certain categories of foreigners are checked more carefully at the border. It has always been like this, Ukraine has been at war with Russia for eight years,” he stressed.
