The star of the series “Doctor Who” Tennant will play the ex-FSB officer Litvinenko

British actor, star of the TV series Doctor Who, Good Omens and Broadchurch David Tennant will play the main role in the British TV series about the poisoning of ex-KGB and FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko, according to the tabloid The Mirror.

According to the publication, American actress Margarita Levieva will play the role of Litvinenko's wife Marina. The showrunner of the project is George Kay, known for his work on the French detective series Lupine.

Journalists note that the series will be released very soon, but the exact date has not yet been announced.

Let us remind you that Alexander Litvinenko, who served in the KGB and FSB, died in a London hospital on November 23, 2006. In 2000, he fled to Britain after criminal charges were brought against him in Russia. This was caused by a conflict with the leadership of the special service, which began in 1998. After receiving political asylum, the former agent began to cooperate with the British intelligence MI6 and the Spanish intelligence services. The investigation found that the man was poisoned with the rare radioactive isotope polonium-210.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian director Zhora Kryzhovnikov is working on the adaptation of the novel “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Filming of the project will start in the summer of 2022.
