Elvina Gilfanova, an analyst-researcher of digital products at the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachestvo, gave advice on how to save a laptop flooded with liquid. No one is immune from such situations, so each user should know what to do in critical cases.
According to the specialist, if the rescue operation is carried out quickly and on time, then there is a chance to revive the device.
The first step is to de-energize the gadget, unplug the power cord and remove the battery. Attempts to check the operation of the device will only be a waste of time.
After the power sources are removed, you need to turn the device over and drain the liquid that has got inside, remove visible traces of the gulf.
“Depending on the type of liquid that got inside, it will take from one to several hours before various important components of the equipment fail,” Gilfanova comments to Gazeta.Ru.
Of course, you won't be able to fix the device yourself. But getting rid of moisture quickly will minimize damage. The laptop should be taken to the service as soon as possible. But attempts to dry the device with a hair dryer or on a battery will lead to an even more critical result.
– To avoid such annoying misunderstandings, you need to try to keep liquids at a distance of at least 1.5 meters from the laptop keyboard and do not forget to close the lid of the device, – concluded the specialist.
