The Russian Federation named a 1989 Soviet film as one of the reasons for the collapse of the USSR.
The speaker of the State Duma of the aggressor country Vyacheslav Volodin made an absurd statement – he blamed the 1989 film “Intergirl” for the collapse of the USSR release.
He said this at a meeting of the Russian Duma.
“Look where the destruction of the Soviet Union began? Back in the days of the CPSU Central Committee, in 1989, the film “Intergirl” was released. Everyone applauded, there were lines at the cinemas, the secretaries of the Central Committee went and watched it. The result? The country is gone,” said Volodin, who was sanctioned by the US, EU, Britain, Ukraine and other countries for supporting the aggression of the Putin regime.
The investigative publication “Proekt” writes that there are rumors about Volodin's homosexuality.
Film “Intergirl”
Let us recall that the main character of the film “Intergirl” is a young woman, Tanya Zaitseva, who works as a nurse during the day and as a currency prostitute at night. At the same time, Tanya dreams of marrying a foreigner and moving to Europe. A Swedish “client” unexpectedly proposes to her. Having struggled to overcome Soviet bureaucracy, Tanya ends up abroad, but she can't find happiness there either.
In the year of its premiere, the film became the highest-grossing film in the Soviet box office.
