The Soyuz MS-19 manned spacecraft with the crew of the feature film Challenge has successfully docked to the International Space Station.
“The manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-19 docked to the Russian segment of the International Space Station, having completed only two orbits around the Earth,” according to the Telegram channel of the state corporation Roscosmos.
Soyuz MS-19 could not dock with the ISS in automatic mode, and the spacecraft commander had to transfer it to manual control. In the process of docking, the ship found itself in a “dark zone”, as a result of which communication with the crew was temporarily lost.
Let us remind you that Soyuz MS-19 was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on Tuesday, October 5. The ISS-66 prime crew includes cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, film director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild. The doubles are cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev, cameraman Alexei Dudin, actress Alena Mordovina.
During the flight, Klim Shipenko and Yulia Peresild will perform the functions of flight engineers and will occupy the left and right seats, respectively. Near Julia's chair there is a valve for supplying oxygen to the descent vehicle, and to the left of Klim – a valve for supplying oxygen to spacesuits in case of depressurization or fire, as well as air ventilation dampers. At the command of Shkaplerov, the actress and the director will regulate these valves.
The crew will spend 12 days on the ISS, after which they will return to Earth.
