Pakistan strikes militants in Iran . This happened two days after Iran attacked Pakistan with missiles and drones.
Reuters writes about this.
Iranian media reported that several missiles hit a village in Sistan-Baluchistan province, bordering Pakistan. It is also reported that three women and four children were killed as a result of the attack.
At the same time, Pakistan stated that it fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran. The sole purpose of today's action was to achieve “Pakistan's own security and national interests, which are paramount and cannot be compromised.”
“Several terrorists were killed during the intelligence-led operation,” Pakistan said in a statement, describing the military operation as a series of highly coordinated and precise military strikes against terrorist hideouts.
A Pakistani intelligence source told Reuters that the strikes were carried out by military aircraft.
“Our troops have carried out strikes against Biluchi militants in Iran,” an intelligence official said in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
“The targeted militants belong to the BLF,” he added, referring to the Balochistan Liberation Front, which is seeking independence for the Pakistani province of Balochistan.
Recall that on the night of January 16, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran attacked the headquarters of the Sunni group in Pakistan with ballistic missiles and drones.
Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Tehran after the Iranian missile attack. Pakistan reserved the right to retaliate.
Jaish al-Adl, or the Justice Army is a Sunni militant group. Tehran considers Jaish al-Adl a terrorist organization. Last month, the organization claimed responsibility for an attack on a police station in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province that killed at least 11 police officers. It is one of the poorest regions of Iran, populated mainly by Sunni Baluchis, a minority in Shiite Iran. The group calls its goal better living conditions for the Baluchis in Iran.
