The Russian Ministry of Defense has revealed the secret name of the military parade, which took place on November 7, 1941, on Red Square in Moscow. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to documents published by the department for the 79th anniversary of the parade.
According to historical records, in order to ensure the secrecy of the preparation of the event, it was called the “Operation of the troops of the Moscow garrison.” It is noted that in total, about 30 thousand people, 140 artillery pieces, 160 tanks and 232 vehicles were involved in the operation.
The ministry notes that the publication of documents about this event is aimed at preserving and protecting historical truth, countering falsification of history and attempts to revise the results of World War II.
Earlier it was reported that the march in honor of the parade, held on November 7, 1941, was canceled due to the coronavirus. For the same reason, the Moscow government did not approve public events on November 4. They were planned to be held in different parts of the city.
The parade on Red Square, dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the October Revolution, took place on November 7, 1941. At that time, the front line passed several tens of kilometers from Moscow. In 2005, November 7 was declared the Day of Russian Military Glory.
