French police have detained the second person in the case of the terrorist attack in Nice. This is reported by the newspaper Le Figaro with reference to a source close to the investigation.
According to him, the man was detained during a raid on October 30 at about 18:50 local time (20:50 Moscow time) in Nice and placed in custody. This is a 35-year-old local resident who, presumably, communicated with the criminal who attacked people with a knife the day before the incident.
Currently, law enforcement officers have not brought charges against him. The investigation establishes his possible connections with the killer.
On October 29, a 47-year-old man was detained for the same reason.
The knife attack was carried out by a Tunisian in the church of Notre Dame de Nis on October 29. The attack in Nice killed three people. Two victims had their throats cut, but the attacker did not completely decapitate them. The attacker was wounded by the police during the arrest, he shouted “Allahu akbar!” and continued to repeat these words even after his arrest. He was hospitalized. The previously unknown group “Al-Mahdi in the south of Tunisia” claimed responsibility for the incident.
The attack occurred 13 days after the beheading of a teacher in a suburb of Paris.
