The scientist told what awaits the Earth in the process of global warming
In the coming years, the global temperature will reach the indicators that were noted on the Earth 35 million years ago, as warming develops according to the worst scenario, said Alexander Chernokulsky, a researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the All-Russian Geological Research Institute, at that time the ancestors of ungulates, woolly wings and marsupial mammals, as well as anthropoid primates, appeared on Earth.
Then terrestrial forms reached their maximum size, which led to the appearance of giant rhinos. However, Chernokulsky clarified that the global temperature is one of the climatic indicators, so it is impossible to say for sure that this type of rhinoceros will reappear on Earth.
Earlier, Roshydromet scientists recorded the acceleration of climatic changes in Russia. According to them, the increase in temperature over the past 10 years, taking into account the information for the last year, amounted to 0.51 degrees Celsius, while the average in the world is 0.18 degrees.
