Maxim Ovchinnikov, Deputy Director General of Roscosmos for Economics and Finance, said that the salary of experienced cosmonauts in Russia will exceed 500 thousand rubles a month. At the same time, cosmonaut candidates will have a salary of about 300 thousand rubles a month.
– The President announced a significant increase in salaries. This is especially true of cosmonaut candidates: their salary will be raised by 70% – a little less than 300 thousand rubles per month. For those who flew, an increase of 50% – their salary is slightly more than 500 thousand rubles on average, – quotes the words of Ovchinnikov TASS.
He noted that so far the salaries of Russian cosmonauts are almost two times lower than in the USA or Europe. In particular, the average salary of NASA astronauts is $ 8-9 thousand, and the European Space Agency – $ 7-8 thousand.
The first increased payments to cosmonauts should be received in the near future.
Earlier, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin announced the impending important changes in the space industry. He spoke about the plans of the Russian Federation for the transition to new rocket and space technology and the start of lunar research – first with the help of automatic stations, and then by cosmonaut crews.
