Immunologist Kryuchkov said COVID-19 vaccines do not edit human DNA
Vaccines for COVID-19 do not edit human DNA, however, with coronavirus, in case of immunodeficiency, insertions into cells can occur, which is rather an exception. Russian immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov told about this in an interview with “Reedus”.
According to the specialist, it is extremely rare for COVID-19 to occur separate insertions. Such altered cells, as noted by the immunologist, are removed from the body. “Even without any vaccines, the cells periodically“ deteriorate ”. And they are removed by the body's immune system, ”said Kryuchkov.
However, he added that the Pfizer and Moderna coronavirus vaccines cannot edit human DNA. These preparations contain genetic material, but this was known initially, the immunologist emphasized. According to him, this does not give grounds for calling the vaccines gene therapy.
Earlier, Maxim Skulachev, a leading researcher at Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, said that with a severe course of COVID-19, an infected person's skin may begin to turn blue. According to him, blue discoloration is a consequence of impaired blood oxygenation, lung function or pulmonary edema. It is possible to save the patient – it is necessary to be treated with oxygen, artificial ventilation of the lungs and certain drugs, the biologist emphasized.
