Cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab Dmitry Galov told what signs can indicate that a person is being watched through a phone camera. His recommendations to the Russians are quoted by Gazeta.Ru.
The specialist noted that today there are malicious programs that can gain access to the camera or microphone of a mobile device. According to Galov, it is quite problematic to recognize surveillance, since spyware usually tries not to impersonate itself, but there are a number of features that hint at its presence.
The expert advised users to pay attention to the battery status of the device. As Galov explained, in case of infection with malware, the phone starts to discharge quickly. Among other signs, he attributed a large consumption of traffic volume and the emergence of unfamiliar software. “But the question of whether a device is infected or not can be answered unequivocally only by using antivirus solutions,” the specialist emphasized.
Earlier, Mikhail Bocharov, PR manager of ESET in Russia and the CIS, warned about the dangers of using incognito mode in the browser. He stated that private mode does not guarantee anonymity. User data is collected by the Internet provider, the local network administrator at work and the owner of the Wi-Fi point to which the person decided to connect.
