The Russian youth ice hockey team lost to the Swedish team in the group stage match of the World Youth Championship (MFM-2022) in Red Deer, Canada. The correspondent of “Lenta.ru” informs about it.

The meeting ended with the score 6: 3 (1: 0, 2: 1, 3: 2) in favor of the Swedes.

As part of the Russian national team, Fedor Svechkov (37th minute) and Matvey Michkov (45, 46) distinguished themselves. Oscar Olausson (6), Simon Edwinsson (28), Emil André (35), Alexander Holz (44), Theodor Niederbach (52) and Daniel Jungman (60) scored the goals of the winners.

On December 24, the youth team lost to the Canadian team in a test match in Edmonton with a score of 6: 4 (0: 4, 3: 1, 1: 1). Among the Russians, Nikita Chibrikov (23rd minute), Matvey Michkov (31st, 60th) and Alexander Pashin (38th) were noted. As part of the Canadian national team, the goals were scored by Mason McTavish (7th, 37th), Ridley Greig (8th), Kent Johnson (13th), Lucas Cormier (17th) and Connor Bedard (50th).

The Ice Hockey World Youth Championship will be held from December 26 to January 5. The tournament will be hosted by Canadian Edmonton and Red Deer. Russia will play in the group stage with the USA, Sweden, Slovakia and Switzerland. Of the five teams, four will advance to the playoffs.
