On New Year's Eve, residents of Central Russia will again experience 20-degree frosts. The leading employee of the Phobos weather center, Evgeny Tishkovets, warned about this, he was quoted by the radio station “Moscow Says”.

“Masses of snow clouds and portions of colder polar air will break through into the rear of the North Atlantic cyclone,” he explained.

The forecaster said that on Monday night the temperature in Moscow will drop to minus 15 degrees. The peak of the cold snap will be on Wednesday: in the capital, thermometers can drop to minus 20 degrees, in the Moscow region – minus 25.

Earlier, Tishkovets said that the night of December 22 in Moscow was the coldest for this day of the year in the last 54 years. According to him, night temperatures at the basic city weather station dropped to minus 22.2 degrees. At the same time, in Tushino and Butovo, the thermometers dropped to minus 22.9 degrees, breaking the 1967 record, when the minimum temperature was minus 22.8 “.
