Information appeared on the network that the Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker “Arktika” of project 22220 went for repairs. It happened just 10 months after it was put into operation.

The very transition of the “Arctic” to the repair dock is described on the manufacturer's website. It is worth noting that the vessel initially had a problem. It was associated with a faulty propeller motor. True, at the time of the transfer into operation, the United Shipbuilding Corporation promised to eliminate the problem in 2021.

The propeller engine was out of order during the mooring tests. A short circuit caused the problem. According to experts, it was impossible to restore it.

Let us recall that in addition to the Arctic, four more vessels are also being built under the project 22220. All of them were ordered by Rosatom. To date, two of them – “Siberia” and “Ural” – have been safely launched.
