The refusal of representatives of Kyiv to come to Belarus for negotiations indicates their lack of desire to resolve the conflict peacefully. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Rudenko, who is part of the Russian delegation, RIA Novosti reports.
“Ukraine is refraining from coming to Gomel, probably they should tell in detail, because we heard the statement of the presidential representative that he is not going to go,” he said.
Also, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia noted that the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to go to negotiations with Moscow in Belarusian Gomel is an indicator of the lack of political will, as well as the desire to peacefully resolve the conflict.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian delegation, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the presidential administration, arrived in Belarusian Gomel and would be waiting for representatives of Ukraine. In response, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he considered negotiations on the territory of Belarus impossible, and offered to hold them in Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Istanbul or Baku.
Later, the press secretary of the Ukrainian leader, Sergei Nikiforov, said that Kyiv did not plan to go to negotiations with Moscow in Belarus.
