Russia will not unilaterally recognize the power of the Taliban in Afghanistan ( the Taliban is a terrorist organization banned in Russia ). This was stated by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, director of the second department of Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zamir Kabulov, RIA Novosti reports.

The diplomat said that de facto recognition of the new Afghan government is already taking place. “We, in fact, have a full-fledged Russian embassy. And it is not alone – seven embassies are working, and three or four more are on the way, ”he said.

Kabulov noted that the Taliban delegation participated in a representative meeting in the Moscow format and was invited to an extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where they heard the point of view of the Islamic world “on the Taliban's internal policy in its religious part.”

According to the diplomat, the Russian side will raise the issue of recognition before the UN Security Council when it feels that “the necessary critical qualitative mass of steps has been taken by the Taliban.” “We will discuss, and if the Security Council members are constructive, this issue will be resolved. We are in favor of solving everything together. So far there are no other ideas, ”the special representative of the president stressed.
