The Russian foreign Ministry praised the protests in Belarus after the elections

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia described the protests in Belarus after the presidential elections. The official comment reads leads TASS.

Moscow closely followed the developments during the election campaign, the statement said. Minsk managed to prevent a dangerous escalation of the situation, despite the “attempts of certain forces to organize large-scale protests,” said the Ministry.

The Russian foreign Ministry hopes that the people of Belarus, the choice will contribute to the strengthening of friendship between the two countries and will enable us to continue addressing the country challenges.

At the same time Moscow expressed regret over the arrest in Belarus of the Russian journalists covering the elections and the ensuing mass actions, and about 33 of the Russians detained in late July.

Earlier, the representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the hard detention of Russian journalists at the protests in Belarus — an invalid measure. “It (accreditation) they were not given, but now given with batons on the head. It’s definitely not brotherly. So it is impossible”, — she was indignant.
