The Russian Foreign Ministry said that London should change the tone of rhetoric in the dialogue with Moscow in order to develop relations between the countries. This was reported in the department on the eve of the meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with his British counterpart Liz Truss, RIA Novosti reports.

“Russian-British relations are now at a low point, and by no means through our fault … The situation in the interstate dialogue is aggravated by the harsh anti-Russian, on the verge of common sense, rhetoric of British officials,” the diplomatic service said in a statement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that the British side uses not only statements about “Russian aggression and destabilizing activities”, but also open threats.

“The British side must be clearly aware that without a clear change in the tone of the speeches of representatives of the British leadership, productive interaction is impossible either in solving bilateral problems or in resolving international problems,” the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.

Earlier, Truss said that she would introduce an expanded package of sanctions against Russia due to the situation around Ukraine. According to her, the measures will apply to some companies and some Russian oligarchs. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced his colleague's visit to Russia for talks.
