According to Petr Fiala, the attack was organized and financed, probably from Russia.

Russia may be behind the arson attempt city buses in Prague last week.

This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, reports Reuters.

Czech police reported that on Saturday they detained a 26-year-old man who tried to commit arson, and accused him of terrorism.

“There is a suspicion that the attack was organized and financed, probably from Russia. This is part of a hybrid war that Russia is waging against us, from which we must defend and which we must stop. The Russian Federation is repeatedly trying to sow unrest, undermine citizens’ trust in our state,” Fiala said at a press conference.

Police said the suspect is a Hispanic man from South America. He had been in the Czech Republic for five days before the attempted attack. He failed to commit the arson due to the vigilance of the staff at the Prague bus depot.

Even earlier, Poland accused Russia of trying to destabilize the country, including through sabotage and arson. Moscow rejected the accusations. Last month, Poland reported that it had detained a Pole and two Belarusian citizens suspected of setting fire to objects in different parts of the country.

Previously, the Financial Times published material about how Europe is being massively attacked by Russian saboteurs and spies.
