The Russian Federation is developing a program for implanting chips into the human brain

In the Russian Federation, under the Ministry of Education and Science, a working group has been created to develop a new federal program “Brain, Health, Intelligence, Innovation for 2021–2029,” writes Kommersant with reference to the document.

The project involves the improvement of brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies. The program allows you to control external devices directly by means of electrical signals from the brain, which are converted into control commands under the influence of artificial intelligence technologies.

The document was developed by the Russian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with Moscow State University. In early spring, it was approved by President Vladimir Putin. The study was entrusted to the head of the government Mikhail Mishustin and the head of the presidential administration Anton Vaino.

To implement the project, 54 billion rubles will be required.

The funds are planned to be allocated from the national projects “Science”, “Demography”, “Health”, “Labor productivity and employment support” and “Digital economy”.

Earlier it became known that scientists have developed an interface for typing with the power of thought. In their opinion, this invention will return the ability to communicate to patients who, due to injury or illness, cannot move and speak.
