Russian diplomats claim that the Latvian border guards require their compatriots to sign a statement condemning the actions of the Russian authorities.
The Russian embassy in Latvia complained about the “outrageous demands” to the Russians while crossing the border.
About this reports the Russian edition of RBC with reference to diplomats.
The interlocutors of the publication claim that citizens of the Russian Federation on the border with Latvia are forced to sign some statements condemning the actions of the Russian authorities.
“In case of refusal to do this, as practice shows, entry can not only be denied, but also blacklisted,” the embassy noted.
K As you know, from midnight on September 19, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland banned the entry of Russian tourists – even those with Schengen visas issued by third countries.
In Tallinn, they explained that they had made such a decision as EU border states “in order to protection of public order and security”.
An exception is made for Russians visiting relatives, as well as diplomats, holders of work and study visas and workers in the field of international goods and passenger transportation.
In addition, as an exception, people will be allowed to pass at the border for humanitarian reasons, in particular dissidents who avoid persecution from the Kremlin.
Recall that Georgia has also tightened border controls for Russians entering the country.
