The Russian Ministry of Defense appealed to the citizens of Ukraine to demand that the leadership of their country immediately remove heavy weapons from their homes and neighborhoods. This was reported to Lente.ru in the press service of the department.
“I emphasize once again that the Russian armed forces do not inflict any strikes on residential areas of Ukrainian cities,” the source told Lenta.ru.
The Ministry of Defense added that intelligence continues to record the deployment of rocket and artillery units by Ukrainian nationalists in residential areas of Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. “The leadership of Ukraine has repeatedly stated that it does not hide behind the civilian population and does not place heavy weapons in cities. Such outright lies can lead to dire consequences,” they noted.
It is clarified that Kyiv is doing this on purpose, in order to provoke retaliatory strikes by the Russian armed forces on residents of settlements. “The Ukrainian nationalist leadership uses the same methods as the terrorists,” the Ministry of Defense concluded.
Earlier, on February 26, the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, appealed to the Ukrainians with a call to influence Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “Tell your president to find a way out of the situation. War kills, war destroys, war never ends without negotiations,” he said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass. According to him, it was a response to requests for military assistance that came from the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR).
