In Mexico, in a church in the city of Ciudad Madero on October 1, a roof collapse occurred during the communion ceremony – at least 10 people died, about 20 more found themselves under rubble. It is reported that at least two children are among the dead.

About 49 people were taken to the hospital and were injured. About 100 people were attending Mass in the church at the time.
After the roof collapsed, dozens of people remained trapped in the church. Governor Américo Villarreal later said that all the missing people had been found.
