Russia intends to create a reusable launch vehicle, like SpaceX's Falcon 9, called Krylo-SV. It became known that she can get not only wheels, but also skis.
The skis will be used in the landing system, writes Naked Science. It is noted that work on the “Wing-SV” began several years ago. In February 2020, it was decided to start developing a flight demonstrator.
The Krylo-SV is expected to be a reusable cruise stage for a light launch vehicle. It will be six meters long and 0.8 meters in diameter. The rocket will be able to reach hypersonic speed (Mach 6).
After the second stage is separated, the first must return to the ground with the help of the wings. The skis will allow the rocket to land on the ground.
