Since January 1, 2022, the resort tax in Sochi has increased fivefold. TASS reports.
Now, every day of staying in the city will cost travelers 50 rubles instead of 10. The money collected by the regional administration from vacationers is directed to the improvement of tourist spaces. At the same time, in other cities and districts of the Krasnodar Territory, the resort fee will grow from 10 to 30 rubles per day.
The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the region Yuri Burlachko previously indicated that significant sums are being spent on preparations for the holiday season. “The size will continue to be democratic and accessible to anyone,” he promised.
In November, the Russian government refused to reduce the VAT for the tourism industry to ten percent due to the inappropriateness of this type of assistance. According to the estimates of the Federal Tax Service (FTS), a reduction in VAT to ten percent will not lead to a reduction in the cost of tourist services for consumers. In addition, as a result of the tax cut, the amount of annual losses from the budget will amount to more than 37.2 billion rubles.
