The release of the new Apple Watch 7 is delayed due to the complexity in their design, Nikkei Asia reported. The company was going to release a new smartwatch model in September along with a new iPhone model. But the presentation had to be postponed due to the poor quality of the device. According to the sources of the publication, difficulties arose due to the design of the Watch 7 – it differs significantly from previous models.
At the end of August, Apple began a trial release of the Apple Watch 7, but has not yet been able to achieve the desired quality of devices, Nikkei Asia reported. Earlier, insiders announced that the smartwatch will have a blood pressure sensor and other functions. In this case, the Watch size must remain the same. In addition, engineers need to address waterproofing challenges. All this complicates the work of developers who need to pack more components into the case, swapping them.
The pandemic and the closure of borders added to the difficulties – this does not allow suppliers to agree on the specifications on the spot and timely identify problems with new components.
“Apple and their suppliers are working around the clock trying to solve the problems that have arisen, but it is difficult to say when to start mass production,” – said one of the sources of Nikkei Asia.
Earlier “Secret” wrote that Apple faced similar problems with the release of iPhone 13. The new model of the smartphone in the first months may become a shortage due to problems with components. By the end of the summer, production disruptions were reported from key suppliers of multilayer ceramic capacitors – Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Taiyo Yuden. The factories of these companies have been suspended due to the outbreak of coronavirus infection.
