Football referee Sebastian Choltescu, accused of racist remarks against Istanbul assistant head coach Pierre Vebo, and the team player Demba Ba made up. Former Senegal national team player Osman Ndoye told Sport.ro about this.
Ndoye noticed that he had called Choltescu to support him, and also talked to Ba. “Then he gave Sebastian BA's number and told him to call him. They talked and got along very well. Both called me back and said they were very happy. They found a common language, ”he said.
A racist scandal on December 8 prevented the completion of the match of the sixth round of the Champions League group stage between Istanbul and Paris Saint-Germain. Both teams left the field after Cioltescu called Vebo “Negro”. “The black guy is there on the bench. Go check who he is. That black one, you can't behave like that, ”Choltescu said to the chief arbiter of the meeting, Ovidiu Hatsegan, specifying who should be punished. Ba was the first to express his displeasure.
Later, the referee explained his phrase to Webo. He stated that the word negru in Romanian means “black” and not “negro” at all. Choltescu stressed that he is not a racist.
As a result, the match was postponed to December 9th. Since it was interrupted in the 14th minute, it was started from the same moment. At the same time, another refereeing team was appointed to the meeting. The match ended with a score of 5: 1 in favor of the Parisians.
