The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, addressed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

The Red Cross is demanding permission from Russia to set up an office near Ukraine in order to improve its work in Moscow-controlled territory in eastern Ukraine, according to Anadolu Agency.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has asked the Russian authorities to allow them to open an office in Rostov-on-Don, the southern port city bordering Ukraine, said ICRC chief Peter Maurer.

“I would like your support to strengthen logistics structure in Russia to improve our work in the Donbas and other parts of Ukraine controlled by the Russian armed forces,” he told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. Do this, we have sent a request to open an office in Rostov-on-Don – this will be a good starting point.โ€

Much of Donbas has been under Russian control since 2014, when Russian-backed separatists began fighting there. According to UN estimates, the violence there cost about 13 thousand lives.

Maurer said that he arrived to discuss a number of important issues, in particular, the delivery of humanitarian aid to the conflict zones, mutually acceptable delivery for Russia and Ukraine humanitarian aid to the disputed territories and improved logistics.

This decision looks strange, since Ukrainians massively refuse to leave for Russia and Belarus, choosing to evacuate to safer regions of Ukraine.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, infidels are forcibly moving Ukrainians from the occupied territories to the Russian Federation. After passing through the camps, they are sent to economically depressed areas of the country.

And the Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, Irina Vereshchuk, previously stated that for Ukraine the option of opening humanitarian corridors to Russia or Belarus is unacceptable.

Recall that earlier Peter Maurer said that Ukraine is the largest operation of the Red Cross . The organization's budget to help Ukraine is about $267 million.

It should be noted that many celebrities and well-known companies have donated money to help Ukraine and donated it to the Red Cross.

Also, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the ICRC forbids the use of its emblem on Ukrainian vehicles carrying out humanitarian missions.

The UN General Assembly again dealt a sharp diplomatic blow to Russia, urging it to stop the war with Ukraine, as well as to strengthen the protection of the civilian population.

Recall that earlier, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, threatened that the Russian Federation could use nuclear weapons.
